Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, and care deeply about what we do every day.
Dr. Marcia Whited grew up in Denison, Iowa, where she felt an innate connection with the earth’s creatures from the time she could walk. As she got a little older, she developed a strong relationship with her childhood family pet. Those early experiences made a permanent impression! Dr. Whited always knew that she wanted to devote herself to bettering the lives of animals in whatever way she could. She’s done just that by owning and operating Carroll Small Animal Clinic for more than 30 years.
Dr. Whited attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa for her undergraduate studies, then moved on to the university’s veterinary school to earn her Doctorate. She built Carroll Small Animal Clinic from the ground up, and officially opened the doors for business in the fall of 1987. She’s been serving the area’s pets and animal owners here ever since!
As a vet, Dr. Whited is fond of internal medicine cases and loves putting the pieces of the puzzle together to form a complete diagnosis. She’s Fear-Free Certified, and loves taking extra time with anxious pets to help them feel more comfortable. Dr. Whited is also passionate about alternative medicine and is certified in Chinese medicine and acupuncture—it’s incredibly rewarding when her alternative modalities help a pet that didn’t respond to traditional Westernized treatments!
When she’s not at work, Dr. Whited enjoys running, swimming, hiking, and spending time with her family and pets at home. She and her husband, Peter, have a Rottweiler named Gracie—who also serves as the unofficial office mascot here at the clinic—as well as Casper the Cockatoo and her Dressage Partner Johnny.
